Hmmmm.. Kidney problems tend not to cause pain around the Kidneys. Is what you're dealing with anterior or posterior? Any radiant pain? A, this can be so so SO many things. Try and give us more details about when it hurts, if you notice food triggers.. are you eating Organic Raw? Give us as much more info as you can.

Does it feel like back pain? Drink lots of cranberry juice and take good care of yourself.

the pain is there towards the back more than the front.. how can i describe it? only in terms of yoga poses. when i do half moon (standing, hands up bending to the side in the shape of a new moon) the kidney can really feel it there. when i am on my back and pull my knees to chest and breathe deep i can feel the whole thing and it is uncomfortable..
i will try drinking cranberry. thank you
        Peace

If it only happens in poses like Ardha Chandrasana, where you're pulling all your weight to one leg and putting stress on the back.. It may be a lumbar, not a Kidney thing. I used to feel the same thing as what I think you're describing in certain Asanas.
Is this the only time you really get that sensation?... while practicing?

you might consider getting checked for kidney stones. Going raw usually initiates a detox process which can dislodge stones and other sediments. It's good if your body is starting to clear this stuff out, but if you have large stones you may need to have them broken down to flush them out. I believe the medical procedure involves the use of sound waves to break the stones. Of course, i'm not a doctor, but that is my first intuitive response.

When i first began cleansing my system i did experience some pain in the gall bladder area. It went away eventually and i have not done a gall bladder flush or anything, i've just been raw for about 20 months.

Burdock tea might be helpful for you as far as cleansing the kidneys goes.

Get a check up period. Go to the doctor and tell them what's wrong and let them do tests and help you find out for sure. All of us here can offer well intentioned advice. But ultimately you should really get professional care. All of us should if we think there may be something wrong with us. And if there isnt fine. Better safe than sorry. But usually if we think there is something wrong with us, especially if there is pain, there usually is something wrong. I hope you do go to the doctor just to be thorough.

i get it other times, but it is getting better. many times when we focus on our pain, remeber how the pain feels, dwell on it, we keep creating it. but i feel a good diet is indeed cleansing my body and it is releasing some toxins/ etc... i did a gallbladder flush and i think it is good.
            Thank you
            Peace

I thought of back muscle strain as well.

You hav eto be able to really differentiate which is what. It is not always easy.

yeah... please go to the doctor! kidney pain is nothing to fool around with because your body can alert you to infection or other issues. Don't listen to what well intentioned cyber friends want to tell you please just go see a doctor- whether it is western med, chinese med, or so on! Some people get kidney stones from overdoing greens, due to high calcium levels. The raw diet, while good in many ways, can definitely lead to issues like that if out of balance.

"Don't listen to what well intentioned"...

You should just stop posting online period A.. Then run right to the doctor without asking anyone any questions EVER!!! Don't try to educate yourself at all as to the many possibilities that this may be so you could then maybe talk to your doc about them. Yeah.. that's a much better idea.

                kidney pain is serious

I said you have ot be able to differentiate.. if you can't then a doc can.

Some people can develop kidney stones from the oxalic acids in many raw dark leafy greens and dark chocolate! I did and it took me a while to figure it out. If you do a lot of chocolate do cut back.
To shrink stones I have had great success w/ Dr. Shultz's kideny cleanse www.herbdoc.com (the liver/gb cleanse works well for me too)

For weekly maitenance try a Chanca Piedra tincture such as the one from Herb Pharm and Stone Formula from Plum Flower. I alternate the 2 and no longer have stones or pain.

                  Blessings,

                  SG

How do you differentiate between back pain and kidney pain? I swear what seems like back pain alot of times makes me wonder if it's kidney pain. Maybe I should ask my doc to check my kidneys.

Wow, I was picking up to check on kidney stones too! Combining Gravel Root (also called Joe Pye Weed or Queen of the Meadow) with MarshMallow Root is an excellent tea for dissolving and moving these out of the system more quickly than with raw foods alone. Yes, unsweetened cranberry juice (I sweeten mine with stevia) or drinking parsley tea or juniper berry tea may also help. Burdock is awesome since it also helps other systems - so does ginger and turmeric. Keep us posted!

Right kidney is source of your energy in chinese medicine. Pain there is serious and needs to be understood.
Sex taxes and wears out your adrenals. You need chinese kidney tonic herbs (kidney/adrenals considered
one organ in TCM.) Raw-foodism is a modern fad, not respected by TCM who have thousand years+
experience. ("Too much raw food ruins the stomach.") It's not JUST all about cleansing but also building
healthy organs and tissues. Mere raw food diet is not enough knowledge to stay well. You need to know
what foods nourish what organs, hot/cold, wet/dry conditions, etc. People have predisposing conditions
and not all foods are suitable for everyone. You must eat those foods suitable for your condition, which is
determined by pulse testing and questioning the patient. Kidney/adrenal problems are classic in TCM,
all your energy comes from your kidneys, and "kidneys rule the brain." ...i.e. quality of thinking controlled by
    your adrenals.

Needling is only good to stimulate hypo function, yours may already be taxed and need fixing. A car isn't
fixed on race-track or by kicking it, but taken into garage.

Chinese medicine is recent fad in cosmos intended to make up for the gross deficiencies of eating cooked foods regularly. Same is true of Ayurveda .
The inability to Adapt to a raw diet is a Function of the Results of a lifetime of eating cooked foods. There are, however, quite a large number of people who have overcome All manner of chronic DisEase through total raw diet and attention towards overcoming the Specifics of one's Acquired metabolic afflictions.
Herbal medicine, be it Chinese, Ayurveda, or other, is a complex technology .... and Complex Technologies require Specialists.... and any technology that is too complex for the intuitive mind to readily grasp breeds a left-brain cult of Exclusivistic Rationalisms to Support it as Justification for its existence......... but one has to Respect the Boundaries of herbalism & cooked philosophy, which Fall Short of the understandings of the Extreme Value of abandoning all cooked foods and allowing raw foods to become the Source of Healing & Life Sustainment.
Living in a garage is, at best, a temporary measure until one can overcome the reasons for ending up in a garage in the First Place.

Raw meat is quite unappealing to me, (I've seen animals butchered, and have no illusions about how ugly the whole story is) and not especially healthy on any regular basis.... the only such thing I would consider eating if sufficiently hungry (unless starving) might be sushi... but I did so once and ended up with some soreness in the tonsils, telling me the toxin load was not insignificant.
Yes, I am wildly creative with geometries and structures, my ambitions ever spiraling skyward.....

Asked because I know some raw foodies who do get very fresh meat straight from the ranch of allegedly humanish farms. I try not to judge anyone for anything and am ever refining my way.

            keep spiraling!

I find one needs very little protein & fats, but everyone is raised on high protein, high fat, so there is commonly metabolic dysfunction as a result. I eat lots of fruit with no real problem if I don't overdo the fat intake, as this interferes with blood sugar metabolism. Fruit is entirely Wholesome and contains a rich abundance of phytonutrients and other metabolic riches that prevent aging (in the absence of other destructive influences).
