I have to choose between buying a unit that has 5 paraflex sheets or one that has 9 teflex, for the same price. the person who sells the one w/ the newer paraflex sheets tells me that they far outlast the teflex. does anyone have any info about this? how long have your teflex sheets lasted so far? thanks.
I have a nine tray with the teflex sheet and I have never had any problem with it. I've been using it for about 7 yrs now and have yet to have to replace the sheets or the screens. As long as you care for them and wash them right they last. IE: don't cut on them, no harsh detergents, don't leave in the dish water long. I've made wonderful fresh fruit roll-ups and fruit leather that my friends fight over getting when we go camping and had no problems. With the roll- ups and the leather I have had to sprits with a little olive oil so they don't stick and are easier to remove.
Any suggestions on a different way would be welcome.
If you have a choice between a 5 tray or a 9 tray for the same price, grab the 9 if it's in good condition. (compare both their conditions too.)
I know this was a long time ago, but for anyone reading this now, I would steer clear of the teflex. Teflex denotes the non stick substance
Teflon. The main active component in teflon is fluoride. Recent studies have shown levels of teflon present in most peoples blood proving it has made its way into our food during contact with it.
